Hi there,
You might feel alone, lost, or even ashamed for feeling this way - but you are not alone. God sees you, and He cares about your pain.
Depression is real, and it’s hard. But there is hope. God has spoken life, peace, and restoration over you. And while faith is a powerful anchor, healing also requires action - seeking help, taking care of yourself, and trusting the process.
Here are 7 things God said about depression to remind you that He has not abandoned you:
1. "I Am Close to the Brokenhearted" (Psalm 34:18)
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
When your heart is shattered, and the weight of life is unbearable, God is near. He is not distant, watching from afar. He is right there in the thick of it with you, holding you in His love.
2. "I Will Give You Rest" (Matthew 11:28-30)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Depression can make even the simplest things feel overwhelming. But Jesus invites you to come as you are, with all your exhaustion and pain, and find rest in Him. You should find moments of stillness.
3. "Do Not Be Afraid, for I Am With You" (Isaiah 41:10)
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.”
Depression makes you feel isolated, like no one understands. But God does. He promises to stand with you through the storm, giving you strength even when you feel you have none left.
4. "You Are Not Forgotten" (Isaiah 49:15-16)
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”
Your pain does not go unnoticed. Your struggles do not make you invisible to God. Even when you feel forgotten, He has engraved you on the palms of His hands.
5. "This Season Will Not Last Forever" (Psalm 30:5)
“Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”
It feels endless now, but it won’t always be this way. There will be joy again. Light will break through the darkness.
6. "My Power Is Made Perfect in Weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9)
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
You don’t have to have it all together. God works even in your brokenness, and His grace is enough to carry you through.
7. "You Have a Future and a Hope" (Jeremiah 29:11)
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.”
Depression tells you that nothing will ever get better. But God has written a different story for you - one of hope, healing, and purpose.
Things You Can Do while Trusting God
Let yourself rest in His presence. Talk to Him. Even if it’s just, “God, I need You.”
Don’t pressure yourself to heal overnight. Lean on God’s grace and take it one day at a time.
Hold onto hope. Healing takes time, but every small step forward matters.
Keep a journal of small moments where you feel God’s presence, even in tiny ways.
Breathe. Rest in knowing that you don’t have to carry this alone. Remind yourself daily that you are not fighting this battle alone. God is in it with you.
Praying about your pain is powerful, but so is getting help. God works through therapists, doctors, and loved ones to bring healing. If you’re struggling, please reach out for support. I will also like to point out that depression is not a lack of faith, it’s a real condition that requires care and compassion.
God loves you, and so do we. You are seen. You are valued. You are not alone.
Hold on. Healing is coming.
